The Jess Grant Conspiracy is Seattle singer/songwriter/guitarist Jess Grant (Sugarcane Mutiny, Jett City), bassist Casey Allen (Sugarcane Mutiny, Jimm & the Boxes, the Life), drummer Douglas Roach (Blind Alley, Ruby's Basement, Douglas Roach Jazz Combo) and lead guitarist Greg Mauser (Blind Alley, Breadline Blues Band, Way Too Loose).
The Jess Grant Conspiracy crafts subversive rock songs for the intelligent listener. Loud one minute, rootsy the next, Jess' music has been compared to that of Mark Knopfler, Robbie Robertson, Iggy Pop and Elvis Costello, though he would probably describe himself as more influenced by artists like Steve Earle, Richard Thompson, Graham Parker and James McMurtry. Vocal harmonies, stage presence and a wide dynamic range, coupled with a unique narrative voice, make for a provocative and riveting performance.
Jess has studied with Nashville hit-maker Steve Seskin and shared the stage with Utah Phillips, Erin Corday, John Trudell, Jim Page, David Rovics and Super Diamond. From the stages of Seattle's Folklife Festival to the campfires of Kerrville TX, Jess has slung his acoustic guitar in churches, graveyards and coffeehouses around the West. He is equally at home on stage with a rock band, fronting his original power-pop band Sugarcane Mutiny (2007-2009) or the gender-bending Joan Jett tribute, Jett City (2004-2007).
Jess brings all these styles (and more) together in his new band, The Jess Grant Conspiracy, and his new album, Innocent Invader (released October 2012).
